The Land of People, Culture, and Destiny
Guyana is a small country on the northern coast of South America. It was originally colonized by the Dutch and then by the British. It has lots of natural resources, including gold, oil and even diamonds. Guyana’s forest are a major part of the country, making up over 80% of its surface area! Aside from the forests, the people of Guyana have a rich culture full of Indigenous traditions as well as Black and Indian customs.
